Klopp’s men set for another roller coaster ride
There’s a three-way charge at the top of the Premier League after 10 match days as Manchester City sit ahead of Liverpool and Arsenal on goal difference.
The Merseysiders have come on leaps and bounds under Jurgen Klopp since the former Borussia Dortmund boss arrived at Anfield. Given their lack of European football they simply have to be considered as legitimate title contenders this season, especially as no side around them are looking likely to run away with a challenge of their own.
This weekend the Reds entertain a Watford side who have been quietly going about their business and sit in seventh spot, unbeaten in their last four Premier League matches. There have been some off the field issues that have dominated the headlines in the run up to this high-profile fixture but the Hornets certainly have a sting in their tails when it comes to their performances.
Despite that, they are 10/1 (11.0) underdogs to claim victory on Sunday while Liverpool are just ¼ (1.25) to make home advantage count and the draw is a 5/1 (6.0) shot with Coral.
Goals are expected in this one with just 8/15 (1.53) on offer about three or more being scored in the game with Coral. Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Adam Lallana have all looked very lively this term and Daniel Sturridge is struggling to establish himself in the high-intensity line-ups that are taking to the field, a sign of just how much strength in depth Klopp has at his disposal in the final third.
Interestingly in the goal markets though, Coral go Even Money (2.0) that both teams are able to score and it’s 4/5 (1.80) that at least one of them fails to make a breakthrough.
Of course Watford will be the main concern to backers of the BTTS “Yes” bet but they’ve showed some good aggression in the final third at times, hitting the back of the net 14 times in their 10 matches and their performance against Manchester United would suggest that Walter Mazzarri’s men will thrive given the chance of a big scalp this term.
Getting some sort of value angle on Klopp’s side is no straightforward task given how dominant they have been in recent weeks but one wager which has consistently rewarded punters who are willing to delve a little deeper is Liverpool to win and both teams to score in the match.
This selection has drifted to 19/10 (2.90) with Coral and has paid out in all seven Premier League matches that the Reds have won this season so the chance to back it again when an in-form side come to town looks just too good to turn down.
After leaking twice to Crystal Palace this weekend, Watford will surely fancy their chances of adding to the defensive headaches that the Merseyside club are struggling to cure but ultimately they should come up short against a side that have racked up an impressive tally of 24 goals already.
Given neither side have had a midweek fixture to impact their preparations, another high-scoring Liverpool win could well be on the cards and at 19/10 (2.90) with Coral it looks well worth backing.
